Happy 4th of July y'all! I hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend. We had a fun weekend. Friday we slept in (Kass didn't wake up til 10:45!), then we went to lunch with my parents at McAlisters. After lunch we went home and waited on Angie to get here- she visited us for the weekend! :) After Ang arrived, we went to our friends the Jaspers' house and hung out with them. Kass got in the pool for a little bit, but her daddy and his friends were being wayyy to rowdy playing water basketball, so she was really clingy. After a little while, we got out and just played. We had a really scary thing happen later that afternoon... Kassidy is REALLY bad about finding the smallest specs of whatever on the ground and immediately putting them in her mouth. I am soooo ready for her to be past this stage....... Anyway, she was playing on the carpet and apparently found a red little plastic metallic shiny star decoration. We're not really sure if she swallowed any or not- Eric pulled one off her lip. She started coughing and gagging like she was choking on it, so I grabbed her up off the ground. Then it got worse...she totally stopped making any noise and started turning really reddish purple... so I am FREAKING out and flip her onto her tummy and start doing back blows (choking protocol for babies). After what seemed like an ETERNITY, she kind of spit/threw up a puddle of clear mucus. It took her a while to really recover once her airway finally cleared, but after about 5 min she was ok. That was without a doubt the longest few minutes of my life, and definitely the scariest. All I could think was "I am going to lose my baby girl on the 4th of July right here with a million people watching." I was soooo scared. I think I already said that but i'm being emphatic.. So, then I was worried that she may have aspirated the star since nothing came up but mucus after i beat on her back. I'm still a little nervous about that possibility, but I've been checking her lung sounds and everything and I think she's ok. So, we'll see if we find a red star in her diaper sometime soon...Anyway, needless to say, I couldn't hardly sleep that night, I was soooo shaken up. I just wanted to cry and cry over and over again. Eric and I will definitely be watching her like a hawk until she gets through this oral phase of life, more than we already do. Now I am sooo paranoid about her crawling around on the ground, I am constantly saying "Kass what's in your mouth" even when nothing is in there. I have GOT to chill out.
Luckily, our Saturday was a good day with no traumatic happenings. We had a relaxing morning, and then our friends Kelley and Doug and their baby Kylie came over. We grilled chicken and had fajitas, then went to toys r us, then watched fireworks. Kass loved the fireworks so much. She was getting so excited, she could hardly contain herself. It was so cute.
So, I think that pretty much sums up my weekend so far. Pray for my baby girl, that her lungs are clear and that she didn't aspirate anything. Thanks so much and hope y'all have a wonderful Sunday.
