We made it and we are 1!! :)

I'm still here! We've had a very crazy couple of weeks... but all is well nonetheless. Kassidy turned one last Friday, and we had a big party for her on Saturday. She had so much fun and loved her cake and ice cream...most of which she ended up wearing, but that's what 1st Bday parties are for, right??!

Kass is getting so big. She is running all over the house (yes, running). I have one baby gate up and one on the way to our house via UPS. She wants to be EVERYWHERE and she's so fast that I can't get anything done because I cannot take my eyes off of her. :) I love her to pieces though..she is the sweetest baby I could have ever asked for. She's become very affectionate lately. She loves to just run up at random times and give me a huge hug or kiss, totally unprompted. I love it so much.

Y'all are probably going to think I've lost my mind, but I bought Kassidy a little potty a few days ago. I know..I know...Let me defend myself though. :) Kassidy has had 2 really nasty yeast diaper rashes- basically one right after another, and I got so tired of it that I went out and bought a potty. I hate to see her little hiney and legs looking so terrible and painful, and I just figure the sooner we can get out of diapers, the better. Anyway, right now we're just familiarizing ourselves with the potty. No pressure, just "ok kass, here's your potty. want to sit on it and go tee tee like mommy does?" Well, she went once in it yesterday and once in it today. I was so excited. I know its gonna be awhile before she's really ready to potty train, but if we can get the general idea of it now, I think maybe it will be easier when the time does come. :)

I think that's all I can say for now, I'm about to fall asleep. Here's some pics of her from a couple of nights this week. I'm not gonna put up party pics because I have them all uploaded in my facebook and I am REALLY bad at putting up pics on here. They're never in order or organized right . :)

Ok, thats all for now :) Except the pics..... :)

Kassidy loves her daddy :)

Fun times with the baby girl Rockstar...

We went to a Fort Worth Cats baseball game on Sunday night and had lots of fun! They had fireworks after the game, and again Kassidy absolutely loved them. She was squealing and laughing and babbling like crazy the whole time they were going off (and of course waving at them too...) So here are a few pics from the game and a few from before the game. I stink at formatting pics on here so they're not in chrono. order but who cares right??? :)

Have a great wednesday everyone!

I think I'll try a bite...

Watching more fireworks

I like to wave at them...don't ask why...??

4th of July

Happy 4th of July y'all! I hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend. We had a fun weekend. Friday we slept in (Kass didn't wake up til 10:45!), then we went to lunch with my parents at McAlisters. After lunch we went home and waited on Angie to get here- she visited us for the weekend! :) After Ang arrived, we went to our friends the Jaspers' house and hung out with them. Kass got in the pool for a little bit, but her daddy and his friends were being wayyy to rowdy playing water basketball, so she was really clingy. After a little while, we got out and just played. We had a really scary thing happen later that afternoon... Kassidy is REALLY bad about finding the smallest specs of whatever on the ground and immediately putting them in her mouth. I am soooo ready for her to be past this stage....... Anyway, she was playing on the carpet and apparently found a red little plastic metallic shiny star decoration. We're not really sure if she swallowed any or not- Eric pulled one off her lip. She started coughing and gagging like she was choking on it, so I grabbed her up off the ground. Then it got worse...she totally stopped making any noise and started turning really reddish purple... so I am FREAKING out and flip her onto her tummy and start doing back blows (choking protocol for babies). After what seemed like an ETERNITY, she kind of spit/threw up a puddle of clear mucus. It took her a while to really recover once her airway finally cleared, but after about 5 min she was ok. That was without a doubt the longest few minutes of my life, and definitely the scariest. All I could think was "I am going to lose my baby girl on the 4th of July right here with a million people watching." I was soooo scared. I think I already said that but i'm being emphatic.. So, then I was worried that she may have aspirated the star since nothing came up but mucus after i beat on her back. I'm still a little nervous about that possibility, but I've been checking her lung sounds and everything and I think she's ok. So, we'll see if we find a red star in her diaper sometime soon...Anyway, needless to say, I couldn't hardly sleep that night, I was soooo shaken up. I just wanted to cry and cry over and over again. Eric and I will definitely be watching her like a hawk until she gets through this oral phase of life, more than we already do. Now I am sooo paranoid about her crawling around on the ground, I am constantly saying "Kass what's in your mouth" even when nothing is in there. I have GOT to chill out.

Luckily, our Saturday was a good day with no traumatic happenings. We had a relaxing morning, and then our friends Kelley and Doug and their baby Kylie came over. We grilled chicken and had fajitas, then went to toys r us, then watched fireworks. Kass loved the fireworks so much. She was getting so excited, she could hardly contain herself. It was so cute.

So, I think that pretty much sums up my weekend so far. Pray for my baby girl, that her lungs are clear and that she didn't aspirate anything. Thanks so much and hope y'all have a wonderful Sunday.

I have returned from the land of household chores...

....at least temporarily. :) Is it just me or is it totally amazing that a tiny little person can create such a large amount of dirty dishes and laundry?? Luckily my husband Eric is such a help to me. He really does more than his part around the house. I would be pulling my hair out nightly if it weren't for him. I love you honey. :)

Anyway, since I am finally updating, I'll take this opportunity to tell you that Kassidy is walking like a champ! Her distance just about doubles daily. And she LOVES walking back and forth between Eric and I. She barely even gets turned around before she is taking off again back to the other person. It is soo cute. I love watching her learn how to be such a big girl, but at the same time it makes me soo sad! Yesterday I had a revelation that I didn't have a newborn anymore....well I haven't had one for a few months now, but just thinking about that really makes me sad!! She is growing up soo fast. I love her soo much and I am so amazed at how God could give me such a beautiful, precious gift.

Her other thing right now is that she is Miss Congeniality. It doesn't matter where we are or what time of day, if we go out in public, my daughter suddenly becomes the waving queen. She waves at EVERYONE and I do mean EVERYONE....relentlessly! Until they either come and talk to her (which she loves) or just finally feel the pressure to wave back at her. She is such a ham. I have no idea where she got it either because Eric and I are both pretty tame and quiet in public. But she is constantly striving to be the center of everyone's attention. It scares me. LOL.

Ok, so here are some recent pics. Hope you enjoy...
